Fussie Wines

Fussie set out to prove that boxed wine could be something people were proud to leave on the counter. Together, we created an entirely new lifestyle brand, developing the strategy, visual identity, packaging system, and Shopify experience from the ground up. Every decision was rooted in one idea: great branding doesn't just change how a product looks. It changes how people feel about it. The result is a brand that transforms boxed wine from a practical purchase into an invitation to gather, host, and romanticize everyday moments.

Context

Boxed wine has a perception problem. While it offers convenience and quality, the category is often associated with compromise rather than culture.

Fussie set out to change that. They’re transforming boxed wine into something people will proudly display on their kitchen counter, bring to dinner parties, and share with friends. Every touchpoint needed to feel effortlessly cool, socially relevant, and unmistakably different from traditional wine branding.

Solution

We began by building the strategic foundation for the brand, defining the emotional space Fussie would own and the role it would play in people's lives. Rather than competing on wine expertise or luxury, we positioned Fussie as a culturally fluent lifestyle brand centered around hosting, friendship, and the rituals that turn ordinary evenings into memorable ones.

From there, we developed a complete visual identity that balanced contradiction: elevated but unbothered, curated but playful, romantic but a little rebellious. The identity paired expressive hand-drawn lettering with refined typography, an unexpected color palette, and a flexible brand system that could feel equally at home on packaging, social media, and digital experiences.

We then extended that strategy across every customer touchpoint, designing the packaging system and building a custom Shopify experience that introduced consumers to the brand while making online purchasing feel as thoughtful and inviting as opening a bottle with friends.

FUSSIE ABOUT WINE.

Branding

Rather than asking what kind of wine Fussie sold, we asked what kind of life it belonged in.

The strategy centered around the idea that friendship is a lifestyle and that hosting, gathering, and celebrating small moments deserve products with as much personality as the people enjoying them.

Instead of speaking like a wine company, Fussie speaks like the friend whose apartment everyone ends up at. The one who remembers your drink order, sends the playlist afterward, and makes a Tuesday night feel worth dressing up for.

This strategic positioning became the foundation for the brand voice, messaging, photography direction, packaging, and website.

Packaging

Packaging became the product's biggest opportunity to shift perception.

Rather than hiding the fact that Fussie is boxed wine, we celebrated it. The packaging system feels collectible, display-worthy, and giftable, creating something consumers would happily leave on the counter long after bringing it home.

Each varietal maintains a cohesive family resemblance while introducing its own personality through color, allowing the collection to expand naturally over time. The boxes were designed to become part of the atmosphere of the gatherings it was made for.

Website

The website extends the brand beyond the box.

We designed and developed a Shopify experience that introduces visitors to Fussie's world before asking them to make a purchase. Editorial storytelling, playful copy, lifestyle photography, and thoughtful product pages work together to communicate that Fussie isn't simply buying wine. It's buying into a feeling.

The experience balances commerce with storytelling, helping customers understand both the product and the personality behind it while making online purchasing feel effortless.
